The story of the surprise...
There is a hand on my shoulder. That hand is gently shaking me. And its not a dream.
A is waking me up. What a shocker. I always wake up before him. Everyday. Is something wrong? I wonder. I woozily look up at him and his is beaming… another shocker. He is so not a morning person and takes a while adjusting to everything around him! So what the hell is going on? He says – don’t worry and please listen to all that you instructed today and please calm down. (This last instruction is repeated fairly often over the next couple of hours…)
A has a few days off from work and I cant wait to start the “holiday” with him. Swims, movies, picnics – are all on the agenda. So with these thoughts I am off to the loo. I get back and there is a suitcase on the bed. With some clothes piled up next to it. ???!!!!!!
What the %@#& is going on???!!!!!
I freak out and cant stop asking the questions. I get no answers. At least no satisfactory ones and so I take a few deep breaths to calm down and try to go with the flow. So then he tells me not to get my hopes up and that we are just going near by (so I think - Sentosa - that is it! that is where we are going) but we need clothes / summery ones for about 5 days.
He is still beaming. What is with this guy??!!!
So I start packing and panicking all together and then realise I need to get some stuff from our GP. Rush off to do that with strict instructions that I must not try to call our friends and figure this whole thing out. I am also told that it is imperative that we leave at 2.30 and time is running out.
I try and hurry and then ask him "if transport is not an issue then can i watch half an hour of b&b (a shit soap I follow in the afternoons!) and we can leave after that?" He completely lost it when I said that... That was funny.
At the airport I am told to stand in one corner with my eyes on the floor. A checks us in and I have no idea about airline / destination - nothing.
And then I ask him about the whole story. How did he do it? How did he pull it off???
But then that is another story. Yes? And that is A’s story.
The trip was magical and the surprise has completely swept me off my feet.
I keep thinking about whether we are allowed so much happiness?
